Split Bimetallic Plain Bearing

Categories: ,

Product description

Material & Process:
  • Constructed with a bimetallic composite structure: the outer layer is high-strength carbon or alloy steel for structural support and impact resistance; the inner layer is tin bronze or babbitt alloy, offering excellent anti-friction, wear and anti-seizure properties.
  • Split-type design, consisting of upper and lower halves, allowing easy installation, inspection and replacement without disassembling the entire shaft system.
  • Inner and outer circles and mating surfaces are precision CNC turned, bored and honed, with tight dimensional tolerances and roundness control to ensure fitting accuracy and conditions for oil film formation.
  • The inner bore is machined with oil grooves and holes to guide uniform distribution of lubricating oil, forming a continuous and stable hydrodynamic oil film.
  • All bolt holes and positioning pin holes are precision machined to ensure stable concentricity, parallelism and fit clearance after assembly, preventing uneven wear and seizure.
Application:
This bearing is primarily used as a radial support component for large rotating machinery, enabling low-friction operation between the shaft and bearing through hydrodynamic oil film lubrication. It is widely used in steam turbines, water turbines, large motors, compressors, pumps and metallurgical machinery, carrying radial loads transmitted by the shaft. At the same time, it forms a stable oil film through oil grooves and the lubrication system, reducing friction and wear between the journal and bearing, absorbing vibration and cushioning shocks, and protecting the journal surface from damage. The split structure eliminates the need to disassemble the entire shaft for equipment maintenance and bearing replacement, significantly reducing maintenance difficulty and downtime, ensuring long-term stable and efficient operation of the equipment.
